I decided to call my blog Controversial Kendra because everywhere I go, I see controversy, and I always have my opinion to weigh in, for better or for worse. I see controversy in everyday conversations, in marketing campaigns, in what clothes people wear. In essence, I enjoy a solid contradiction that will lead to discussion, and if it leads to controversy, that doesn't scare me one iota.
I chose this name because everyday choices that I personally choose to make, personal opinions that I have, and the select few that I choose to share are regularly controversial, and this is something that I think my generation is scared of, which releases a terrified paralysis in me.
The definition of controversy is a disagreement, typically public and prolonged. To most people, controversy may seem like an intimidating situation, but to me, it is the opportunity to listen and be heard for all kinds of issues.
I've always enjoyed debating, never officially or on any teams, but my the age I was ten, I had read most of my Mom's Law School textbooks. One Sunday afternoon, after I had felt that my rest time should be over, I went to my Dad and argued for Habeas Corpus. Of course, it wasn't granted, but that didn't stop me from trying to haggle my way out of the remaining rest time.
I've always had a passion for both sides of the story to be heard, and sometimes controversy is the only way for that to happen. In an ideal world controversy it wouldn't be necessary, but it is, and personally, I love the challenge.
